Bush lemons grow wild on many Australian rural properties. They are a an old fashioned lemon with a very thick bumpy rind and easily segmented for eating. They make great still life subjects because of their imperfect and uneven appearance, and they taste very nice too.
This small oil study was done over a black ground.
About Margaret Stockdale
I am an Australian artist. I live on a farm near Krambach, on the mid north coast of New South Wales, with my husband Kevin, surrounded by beautiful scenery in a very quiet environment. I am passionate about fine art, and have been painting and drawing seriously since 1995. I have won many art awards during that time. I have portrayed different subjects over those years including landscapes, still life and portraits. Much of my work includes horses and cattle reflecting my interest in the rural way of life. Kevin and I spent many years on the professional rodeo circuit in Australia, where Kevin was a national Bareback Riding Champion. We also spent a year in the USA.
