About Margaret Stockdale
I am an Australian artist. I live on a farm near Krambach, on the mid north coast of New South Wales, with my husband Kevin. I am passionate about fine art, and have been painting and drawing seriously since 1995. I have won many art awards during that time. I have portrayed different subjects over those years including landscapes, still life and portraits. Much of my work includes horses and cattle reflecting my interest in the rural way of life. Kevin and I spent many years on the professional rodeo circuit in Australia, where Kevin was a national Bareback Riding Champion. We also spent a year in the USA. As a result, we are both great fans of American western art.
My health is quite poor as I suffer with Lupus and Fibromyalgia and associated complications. This has restricted my output of work but certainly not my enthusiasm. My art is my therapy.
I work mostly now in Oils. I would describe my work as being influenced by Tonal Impressionism. I have more recently become interested in the 'daily painters' movement, painting lots of small works in a restricted time frame. I have found painting this way to be immensely enjoyable and a great tool to encourage a more painterly technique and to stimulate creativity.
Some of the works shown on this site may be available for purchase. Please feel free to contact me for details.
I hope you enjoy my art works...........
